A Cornell Cooperative Extension project of the
Department of Policy Analysis and Management

MISSION
The mission of CURxED is to provide educational materials and programming about Medicare Part D to the senior citizens of our communities, as well as the family members, volunteers, counselors, and human service agencies that assist them.

VISION
Utilizing data generated by research regarding healthcare insurance policy, CURxED will develop teaching tools, materials, and methods for the public to better understand and utilize to advantage the legislation of Medicare Part D.  Education and resources targeted towards those who assist seniors will supplement the services that are currently in place.  Broadened publicity and an increased public awareness of prescription drug insurance will help more seniors enroll in a Part D plan and help enable them to make the most optimal choice.

OBJECTIVES

    • Provides background information regarding Part D legislation
    • Equips workshop participants with tools to optimize Part D plan selections
    • Refines navigational skills of Medicare’s web based plan finder tool
    • Introduces distinctive web sites of importance to Part D
    • Equips volunteers to participate in Part D enrollment clinics
    • Enables better understanding of coverage zones and costs of medications
    • Utilizes a unique binder set showing comparison data of plan characteristics
